Meet Yolandé

Yolandé van Niekerk was born in Bloemfontein, in South Africa. She was raised in Port Elizabeth and Pretoria, in the same country. Yolandé was educated at Menlo Park High School, and graduated with a BCom(Hons) from the University of Pretoria in 1999.

In 2000 Yolandé moved to the United Kingdom where she trained as an accountant in Oxford whilst working for Grant Thornton. She attained the prestigious ACA qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales

(ICAEW) in 2006. Because of a particular interest in taxation, Yolandé then continued her studies along those lines in parallel with her general accounting training, culminating in the award of the qualification ATT from the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) in 2004, and the qualification of CTA, the gold standard for tax practitioners, from the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in 2007. After leaving Oxford to join her husband in Glasgow, Yolandé worked for Mazars and ultimately for KPMG, one of the so-called ‘Big Four’ accountancy firms and financial service providers. In both of these posts, her main focus was on personal and corporate tax.

Yolandé wished to pursue an independent career as chartered accountant and tax advisor, and to this end founded VN Tax & Accounts.
